The brand strategist with an editorial brain.

I bring editorial judgment to brands at scale—finding the story, seeing where the message loses the plot, and spotting where voice can take the business next.

So, about that brain…

Theresa O’Rourke here: Ex-magazine editor, current brand strategist, part-time helicopter mom to an extended family of brand books.

Working across matrixed orgs and start-ups taught me that customers don't experience the org chart. But they feel every handoff.

Years of writing cover lines gave me a visual attention span. I can boil a complicated idea down to 20 characters—or keep readers hooked on a deep immersive report.

My whole career has circled the body—clinical health, fitness, beauty, food, everything sold between aspiration and anxiety. The field is always changing, contradicting itself and inventing new language. I love parsing all of it.

Nobody has figured out how to KPI brand voice. I'm working on it.

Brands trust me to:

  • Find the narrative tension that makes their story theirs alone

  • Close the gap between the brand book and the brand people experience

  • Build language systems that keep the brand human—from teams to product to AI

  • Portfolio

Select case studies, campaigns, brand work, and bylines.

  • Voice Notes

My Substack follows brand voice into the wild: what brands say, what they miss, and what their language reveals.

Put my brain on your brand problem.

Full-time or fractional, I build brands, scale voice, grow communities, and navigate the messy reality of transformation across teams and timelines.
